Hi! We're looking
for a Back-end Engineer

€65 – 100K
The traditional economy is increasingly shifting towards freelance and gig work: the number of self-employed Europeans has doubled between 2008 and 2014, and current events will only accelerate this trend.

We're here to finally make things right, and we believe that fair pricing, exceptional customer service and a blazingly fast turn-around will make Mansa the de facto option for all self-employed individuals looking for funds.

Core to our promise to offer fast financing is our ability to produce automated lending decisions in minutes, using the latest systems as well as technology we've built in-house. We also use the best tools available to cut down on admin and ensure our teams are able to focus their time on solving complex problems or providing our customers with the best possible experience. This explains the emphasis Tech has in our culture and why we've sought, from Day 1, to work with some of the best Development, Product and Data talent out there.
About us
✨ Job Description
The engineering team at Mansa currently has over 10 highly-skilled engineers, working closely in specialised teams to shape our financing solutions. They participate in the discussions on the direction of our lending product, manage how we will handle the needs of our ever-growing user base and deliver high-quality products in a fast-paced environment.

Our primary language is Typescript from frontend to backend, Next.js on the frontend, and Nest.js on the backend (yes, one letter difference), with a pinch of Elixir. Our platform runs on a Kubernetes cluster hosted on OVH and most of our data is stored with PostgreSQL, using RabbitMQ for internal communication, ELK for logging / tracing and GitHub Action for CI/CD, among many other tools, services and applications.

Your focus will be on our back-end infrastructure, from scaling challenges to data processing ones. We have a very full roadmap ahead, which includes a plethora of new features which, we hope, will establish Mansa as the lender of choice for the self-employed.

  • Full-time position
  • Remote-friendly (Full or Partial or None; UTC+1 - UTC+4:30)
  • Physical offices in Paris and London
  • Salary based on experience
  • 0.1% - 1% equity stake
  • A young, ambitious and exceptionally talented team including alumni from Facebook, Uber, Stuart, Freenow, etc .

The position:

  • Collaborate in the selection of technical architectures and their specifications and ensure the technical feasibility of the Specs;
  • Contribute to the implementation of design patterns (performance, maintainability, scalability, reusability) and share your knowledge inside and outside of Mansa, through internal and external talks, conferences and open-source development;
  • Document thoroughly for long lasting code and team agility;
  • Being in a fast-growing business, you will play an important role in the team's development. Your ideas and point of view will have a strong influence on the product;
  • Design test scenarios: identify and formalise potential errors and inconsistencies (environment management, unit test, test plan, code correction);
  • Optimise application for maximum speed and scalability (No, SonarQube isn't the only reference!);
  • Write simple, useful, beautiful and reusable code (SOLID principles);
  • Document thoroughly for long-lasting code and team agility.

About you:
  • Tech Stack: TypeScript, Nest.Js, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ;
  • Good knowledge of Agile and Craftmanship development practices (TDD, continuous integration, code refactoring, etc.);
  • A Product-driven mindset: Your focus is on the impact your work has on the end user rather than on the number of lines of code you output;
  • Ability to document and democratise selected good practices and architectural principles;
  • Ability to work in a team: communication skills, dynamism, responsibility and collective commitment;
  • Good knowledge of Server Side and Client Side Rendering and the trade-offs that come with them;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit because unless you leave the known paths, no one will notice your footprints.

  • There are no Juniors or Seniors at Mansa; your compensation is based on the experience / knowledge you bring;
  • Stock options as with every full-time employee at Mansa. We want everybody to be a true owner in Mansa;
  • Complimentary lunch and dinner, for which you'll get your own Revolut Business payment card;
  • Personalised learning path and dedicated time for your personal development;
  • We can help you relocate and we are open to sponsoring visas;
  • Part or full-remote possible (but you'll think twice when you see our wonderful office!);
  • A talented team building the future of lending;
  • Beers and drinks for afterwork once (or twice) a week;
  • Annual offsite in amazing - and secret - location;
  • Pension plan and private health insurance.
