We are hiring for a Head of Payments who will strengthen our leadership role in Panama. Head of Payments position combines strategic visioning, team leadership, product innovation, and market expansion, offering a broad scope for professional growth and impact. Key strategic bets are:
Switching to online (i.e., converting kiosks' users into high-frequency app users)
Developing B2B products (such as launching our own acquiring service).
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Craft and champion the Payments division's strategic direction, integrating market insights, segmentation, and financial projections (incl. defending strategy on the BoD)
Operational efficiency:
Fine-tuning of existing contracts with the partners (bill payments and utility) in order to improve profitability
Maintaining relationships and achieving better terms with payment service providers
Orchestrating migration of audience from physical (kiosks) to digital (app) with the aim to grow usage and maximize monetization of the existing user base
Lead the roll-out and growth of new products, including:
Developing and launching an own proprietary acquiring service (B2B segment)
Fine-tuning and aggressively scaling P2P transfers and remittance (cross-border) services
Developing and launching QR payments as a product
Setting up sufficient infrastructure for new products, including opening bank accounts (both in Panama and abroad), monitoring regulatory and statutory compliance requirements
Performance Management: Oversee the division's financial health and strategic milestones, maintaining accountability for results and P&L management.
Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-caliber team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and agility.
Cross-functional collaboration: Engage with other divisions within Punto Pago to leverage synergies and enhance the company's overall market offering.
Requirements:
Experience: Proven track record in Payments product development, preferably within Latin America, with a minimum of 3-5 years in leadership roles responsible for P&L and team completion.
Skills: Strong analytical and strategic thinking, digital product acumen, team player with leadership behavior, and proficiency in English.
Personal traits: proactive, results-driven and persistent, acting as an owner
Experience in team hiring and development - ability to attract and develop A-players
Outcomes for 2024: The performance for the year ending 2024 will be evaluated based on four key performance indicators:
MAU payments
Total payment volume (TPV)
Net revenue and net income
30-day user retention
